‘Balm of Gilead’ is a sweet resinous balm made with balsam poplar buds collected in early spring. An age old medicine used by both bees and humans with recorded use traced back to 1727 BCE and the resin collected by bees to form an antimicrobial glue to protect their hives. This beautifully fragrant medicine is made with three simple ingredients - the poplar buds are infused in olive oil and beeswax is used to emulsify the oil into a balm for easy use.

A general heal all medicine ‘Balm of Gilead’ is helpful for reducing pain and inflammation associated with sore muscles, sprains and arthritis. Creates a barrier soothing, softening and protecting the skin. Great for rashes, burns, skin irritations, cuts and wounds - bringing down inflammation, fights infection and promoting regrowth. Can be rubbed on the chest for respiratory congestion to breath in the volatiles helping to move mucous and infection in the lungs. In Celtic traditions poplar is associated with transformation, protection and vision and the scent uplifting to the spirit.

Cautions - do not use if you have tree allergies or are allergic to salicylates.
